Polymarket

This market will resolve according to how much "The Odyssey" Weekend Box Office will gross domestically on its second weekend. The "Daily Box Office Performance" figures found on the “Box Office” tab on this movie's The Numbers (https://www.the-numbers.com/) page will be used to resolve this market once the values for the 3-day weekend (July 24 - July 26) are final (i.e., not studio estimates). If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. Please note, this market will resolve according to the The Numbers figures provided under Weekend Box Office Performance for the 3-day weekend (which typically includes Thursday's previews), regardless of whether domestic refers to only the USA, or to USA and Canada, etc. If there is ambiguity as to whether the resolution source's figures are final, this market will remain open until both https://www.boxofficemojo.com/ and https://www.the-numbers.com/ have confirmed their finalized figures. If there is no final data available by July 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen.

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Odyssey second weekend box office market displays real-time odds and historical price movements as traders forecast the film's domestic box office performance during its second weekend in release. The interface shows current market probability, 24-hour trading volume of $25,848, and the distribution of trader positions across available outcome ranges. This market aggregates predictions from participants betting on whether the film will land within specific revenue brackets, providing a live snapshot of crowd sentiment around the movie's box office trajectory and audience retention.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they reflect real-money incentives and continuous price discovery rather than point estimates from industry analysts. While box office analysts typically publish weekend projections based on historical comps and early tracking data, this market aggregates the collective judgment of traders who profit or lose based on actual results. The crowd-sourced nature of prediction markets can sometimes detect signals—such as social media momentum or late-breaking audience sentiment—faster than conventional forecasting models, though both approaches have distinct strengths in capturing different dimensions of demand.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader positions into real-time odds for each outcome bracket. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy or sell shares corresponding to their belief about whether the film's second weekend gross will fall into a given range, and the price of each share reflects the collective probability assigned by the market. As new trades flow in, the odds adjust dynamically, ensuring that the market continuously reprices based on fresh information and shifting sentiment among participants.

This market resolves around Jul 26, 2026, once the film's second weekend box office performance is finalized and verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual domestic box office gross for the second weekend against the specified outcome ranges offered in the market. Traders who correctly predicted the final bracket receive their winnings, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within days of the weekend closing, once studios and box office tracking services publish official figures.

Several catalysts can shift odds in this market before resolution. Opening weekend performance and audience reception—measured through reviews, social media buzz, and early word-of-mouth—often signal whether the film will hold well in its second frame. Competing releases, holiday timing, and broader entertainment news can also influence trader expectations. Real-time box office tracking updates and any significant cast or production news may trigger repricing. Additionally, changes in broader market conditions or new information about audience demographics and repeat-viewing patterns can cause traders to adjust their positions, moving the odds toward different outcome brackets.
