Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, which naturally creates price variance. Polymarket and Kalshi may also have slightly different market designs—such as order-book depth, minimum trade sizes, or promotional incentives—that influence how quickly prices converge. Additionally, traders on one platform may have faster access to breaking news or team information, causing temporary spreads. These differences typically narrow as the event date approaches and arbitrage traders exploit gaps, but intraday divergence of several percentage points is normal and reflects the decentralized nature of prediction markets.
Key catalysts include official team lineups and injury announcements, which affect batting depth and power-hitting capacity. Weather forecasts closer to match day—particularly wind speed and cloud cover—influence how far the ball travels and six-hitting frequency. Recent form and head-to-head sixes statistics in T20 cricket can shift trader sentiment. Venue conditions, pitch reports, and toss outcome will also be priced in as the match approaches. Late-breaking news about player fitness or tactical changes in the hours before play begins often triggers sharp repricing across both platforms.
