Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are priced by traders wagering real capital on their beliefs about the outcome. This market aggregates decentralized forecasts rather than a bookmaker's margin, which can lead to sharper, more reactive pricing during breaking news or lineup changes. Both venues serve different purposes: sportsbooks offer fixed odds for casual bettors, while prediction markets reward informed traders who spot mispricings.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices move continuously as traders adjust their positions, with the current odds reflecting the collective probability estimate of all active participants. Shares are fractional and settle to either 1 or 0 once the event concludes, so a share priced at 0.65 implies a 65% estimated chance of that outcome occurring. This mechanism ensures transparent, real-time pricing without reliance on a centralized bookmaker.

This market resolves around Jul 19, 2026, once the T20 Blast match between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire concludes and the final result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team records the higher total number of sixes hit during the match. All trades are locked in at the close of the market window, and payouts are distributed automatically based on the verified final count. Early resolution is possible if the match is abandoned or rescheduled under exceptional circumstances, though such events are rare.

Several catalysts can shift odds in this market before resolution. Team lineup announcements, particularly the inclusion or absence of power hitters known for aggressive batting, typically trigger sharp price moves. Weather forecasts affect match conditions and ball behavior, influencing six-hitting potential. Recent form and head-to-head statistics between the teams generate trader interest. Injury updates to key batsmen or bowlers can reshape expectations around scoring patterns. Live match developments—such as early wickets, momentum shifts, or pitch conditions becoming apparent—will drive continuous repricing as traders update their forecasts in real time.
