This market refers to the combination of the pre-match coin toss and the final match result for the cricket match between Sussex and Hampshire scheduled for 2026-07-12 in T20 Blast. This market resolves according to (1) the official toss result and (2) the finalized match result as published by https://www.espncricinfo.com/. The outcome corresponding to Sussex will be considered correct if Sussex is officially recorded as winning both the toss and the match. The outcome corresponding to Hampshire will be considered correct if Hampshire is officially recorded as winning both the toss and the match. In all other cases - including where the toss and match winners differ, or where no match winner is recorded - the market will resolve to "Draw". DLS/DRS adjustments, over-rate penalties, forfeit/walkover, Super Over, or any other on-field ruling that leads the competition to declare a match winner are treated as ordinary wins. If the match ends tied and the playing conditions provide an on-field tiebreak (e.g., Super Over), the tiebreak winner will be considered the match winner for this market. If the match ends tied with no tiebreak used or available, no team will be considered to have won the match and the market will resolve to "Draw". If the match is permanently canceled, abandoned, or otherwise completed without an official match winner being declared, the market will resolve to "Draw". If the match is postponed or rescheduled, the market remains open until the listed fixture is completed and will then resolve as described above.

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different pricing mechanisms. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets are driven by trader consensus—buy and sell orders from participants wagering real capital on outcomes. This market aggregates thousands of individual forecasts, which can sometimes surface information or sentiment that sportsbooks have not yet fully priced in. Comparing the two can reveal where public opinion diverges from professional oddsmakers, though both aim to predict the same underlying event.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader orders into real-time probabilities. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome has a price between 0 and 1 (or 0–100 cents), representing the market's implied probability. When you buy a contract, you're betting that outcome will occur; when you sell, you're betting against it. The price adjusts continuously as new trades flow in, ensuring the market reflects the latest information and trader conviction about the toss result.
This market resolves around Jul 19, 2026, once the T20 Blast match between Sussex and Hampshire concludes and the toss outcome is verified against credible public sources. The winning contract will be determined by which team actually wins the coin flip at the start of play. Traders holding the correct outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution is typically confirmed within hours of the match beginning, as the toss result is immediately public and unambiguous.
Several factors can shift trader positioning before the toss. Last-minute team news, injury announcements, or weather updates may influence captains' toss strategies, prompting traders to adjust their bets. Betting patterns and social media sentiment can also sway the market as match day nears. Additionally, if one team is heavily favored to win the match overall, some traders may infer a higher probability of that team winning the toss, creating indirect pressure on prices. Any credible reporting about ground conditions or historical toss patterns at the venue could similarly trigger repricing as new information becomes available.
