Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different trader bases and risk models. Sportsbooks set fixed lines designed to balance liability, while this market prices outcomes through continuous trading by a distributed crowd. Prediction markets typically incorporate real-time information and sentiment faster than traditional books update their lines. For cricket events like this one, comparing the two can reveal whether the crowd is pricing in factors—such as recent form, pitch conditions, or team composition—that sportsbooks may have initially underweighted.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling shares that represent each possible outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price reflects the collective probability estimate: higher prices indicate stronger belief that outcome will occur. Liquidity pools and order books allow traders to enter or exit positions at any time before resolution, with spreads tightening as more volume accumulates. This continuous pricing mechanism means odds adjust instantly in response to new information, breaking news, or shifts in trader conviction.

This market resolves around Jul 22, 2026, once the Hampshire versus Essex T20 Blast match concludes and the final result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by counting total sixes hit by each team across all innings and identifying which side struck more. Resolution occurs after official match data is confirmed and recorded, ensuring accuracy before payouts are distributed to winning traders.

Key catalysts include team lineup announcements, injury updates to star batsmen, and weather forecasts affecting pitch conditions and playing strategy. Recent form and head-to-head records can shift trader sentiment, as can pre-match commentary from analysts highlighting aggressive batting orders. Toss outcome and pitch reports released on match day often trigger sharp price movements, since they directly influence how aggressively each team is likely to bat. Real-time developments during the match—early wickets, momentum swings, or explosive batting—will drive continuous repricing until the final outcome is settled.
