Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and seek to balance action on both sides, while this market represents the aggregated beliefs of many individual traders. This can lead to discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. It’s common to see prediction markets move more quickly to incorporate relevant data than traditional sportsbooks, though the differences can vary significantly depending on the event and market maturity.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. The market’s efficiency depends on the number of participants and the quality of information they incorporate into their trading decisions. This dynamic pricing allows for a real-time assessment of probabilities.

Unexpected upsets in earlier rounds of the tournament, or even weather forecasts impacting the match schedule, could also cause movement.
