Comparing prediction market odds to sportsbook odds reveals how traders’ collective intelligence differs from traditional betting markets. Often, prediction markets can incorporate information more quickly and efficiently than sportsbooks, especially regarding factors not easily quantifiable. If sportsbook odds heavily favor one team, but this market shows a more balanced probability, it suggests traders believe the sportsbook is mispricing the event. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information access or varying interpretations of the same data.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust, providing a dynamic assessment of the likely result of the Szczecin doubles match. The market's efficiency depends on active participation and informed trading.
