This set of markets tracks how many points each team scores in an upcoming college football game. Each market has a different threshold for the points a team must exceed for the market to resolve positively.
All markets resolve based on the official final point totals of Pittsburgh and Syracuse in their college football game scheduled for September 17, 2026. For each market, if the specified team scores more than the stated threshold points, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the markets remain open and resolve according to the actual result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the specific point threshold they bet on.
Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds based on their own models and to balance action, while this market aggregates the views of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is mispricing a team's potential, the odds here can move in the opposite direction. This can sometimes lead to opportunities for informed traders who identify discrepancies between the two. It's important to note that both represent probabilities of an outcome, but are derived through different mechanisms.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders can buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the final team totals. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that total occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable traders are rewarded. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price will adjust, offering a dynamic assessment of the likely outcome. The current market price represents the collective forecast of all participants.
This market resolves around Sep 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final team totals for both Syracuse and Pittsburgh will be sourced from official game statistics. The market will settle based on whether the actual team totals are above or below the contract values traded on Kalshi. Resolution will occur promptly after the completion of the game, ensuring a timely and accurate settlement for all participants. Traders should monitor official sources for the final scores.
Several factors could influence this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Syracuse or Pittsburgh would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favorable to one team's style of play, could also shift the odds. Furthermore, any late-breaking news about coaching strategies or team morale could impact trader sentiment. Even public perception, as reflected in polls or expert analysis, can contribute to price fluctuations as traders react to new information and adjust their predictions.
