Prediction markets and traditional sportsbooks price outcomes differently. Sportsbooks apply fixed margins and employ professional oddsmakers, while prediction markets derive prices from real-time trader activity and collective forecasting. This market reflects what thousands of independent traders believe will happen in the second half, often incorporating information faster than traditional venues update their lines. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbooks can reveal pricing inefficiencies and help bettors identify value opportunities across venues.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current implied probability reflects the ratio of shares outstanding and recent trading activity. As traders place orders, the price adjusts dynamically to balance supply and demand, ensuring the market remains responsive to new information about team form, injuries, or tactical developments heading into the second half.
This market resolves around Jul 25, 2026, once the second-half result is finalized and verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the official match result reported by the league or governing body overseeing the fixture. Traders holding positions in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final whistle, pending confirmation from authoritative match data.
Team news—such as injuries to key players, lineup changes, or tactical shifts—can significantly shift odds before kickoff. Recent form, head-to-head records, and weather conditions may also influence trader positioning. During the first half, the actual scoreline and momentum will reshape expectations for the second-half outcome, potentially triggering sharp price movements as bettors reassess probabilities. Late-breaking developments like suspensions or unexpected absences can create sudden volatility in this market as well.
