Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of individuals, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on statistical models and the insights of professional oddsmakers, while this market relies on the aggregated predictions of many participants. It is common to see discrepancies between the two, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Examining these differences can be valuable for informed decision-making, though it’s important to remember both represent probabilities of the same underlying event.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where participants buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of each share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price reflects the collective assessment of all traders, creating a dynamic and real-time estimation of the event’s likelihood. This allows for a fluid adjustment of probabilities as new information becomes available.

This market resolves around Sep 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Storozhenko vs. Potapov match, as determined by the governing sports organization. This ensures a transparent and objective determination of the winning outcome. The platform will then distribute payouts to those who correctly predicted the result, based on the final share prices at the time of resolution. Several factors could influence the trading activity in this market leading up to Sep 10, 2026. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching strategies, or unexpected performance in preceding matches could significantly shift market sentiment.
