Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds based on models and public perception, aiming to balance action on both sides. This market, however, allows participants to freely trade contracts, causing prices to adjust dynamically as new information becomes available and opinions shift. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a team’s chances, they can buy contracts, driving up the price and potentially signaling a different outcome than initially predicted by traditional oddsmakers.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome. The price of a contract indicates the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and exchange contracts, the price fluctuates, reflecting the collective assessment of the likely winner of the 3rd quarter. The market price is driven entirely by supply and demand, with no external factors influencing it directly.
This market resolves around Sep 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the team leading at the end of the 3rd quarter of the Stanford vs Duke game will be declared the winner of this market. The resolution will be based on the official game statistics and final score, as reported by a trusted sports data source. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or fulfill their obligations based on the final result.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Stanford or Duke team would likely cause significant movement. Changes in team performance during the game itself, such as a dominant start by one team, could also shift the odds. Unexpected strategic decisions by the coaches, or even weather conditions if the game is outdoors, could also play a role. Public sentiment and any late-breaking analysis from sports commentators could also contribute to price fluctuations in this market.
