These markets evaluate different thresholds of points scored by both teams combined during the second quarter of a college football game. Each threshold represents a specific point total that, if exceeded, determines the outcome of that particular market.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams during the second quarter of the Stanford vs Duke college football game scheduled for September 19, 2026. Each market has a unique threshold: if the combined second-quarter points exceed the specified threshold (2.5, 5.5, 7.5, 10.5, 12.5, 13.5, 16.5, 19.5, 20.5, 23.5, or 27.5), that market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. For all markets, only points scored during the second quarter count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi disclaims any affiliation with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own information and analysis. As more information becomes available – such as team news or weather forecasts – the prediction market odds can shift more rapidly and accurately reflect the perceived probability of different outcomes compared to traditional sportsbooks. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbook predictions over time.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the 2nd quarter total for Stanford versus Duke. The price of a contract ranges from 0 to 100, representing the probability of the 'yes' outcome (total points over the specified number). On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As traders exchange contracts, the price fluctuates, reflecting the collective assessment of the market participants. Higher demand for 'yes' contracts drives the price up, while increased selling pressure lowers it. The current price essentially represents the market’s forecast for the event.
This market resolves around Sep 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final score of the 2nd quarter of the Stanford versus Duke game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official game statistics, specifically the total points scored by both teams during the 2nd quarter. The market will then determine whether the total points exceeded or fell short of the threshold represented by the 'yes' and 'no' contracts available for trading. All contracts will be settled based on this verified result.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Stanford or Duke would likely cause price movement, as it affects the teams' scoring potential. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they impact the style of play, could also influence the market. Late-breaking news about coaching strategies or team morale could also play a role. Finally, as the game approaches, any significant shifts in public perception or expert analysis regarding the likely game outcome could drive trading activity and move the price of contracts in this market.
