Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market is driven by traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. If sportsbooks heavily favor one player, you might see a different probability distribution here, especially if there's strong disagreement among traders. It's common to observe discrepancies, as each source uses different information and methodologies to assess the likelihood of a particular result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises accordingly. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, providing a real-time assessment of the match's potential results.
