Matt Olson's performance in the St. Louis vs Atlanta baseball game on June 30, 2026 will be measured by total bases accumulated. Total bases are calculated by counting singles as one base, doubles as two bases, triples as three bases, and home runs as four bases.
Settlement is based on Matt Olson's total bases recorded during the game, provided he starts in the lineup and records at least one plate appearance. If Olson is scratched or not included in the starting lineup, the market resolves to fair market price. If he starts but does not record a plate appearance, it also resolves to fair market price. Pinch-hit appearances do not count toward this event; only statistics from starting lineup at-bats are considered.
Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant pools and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. Traders here are motivated by potential profit rather than volume management, which can lead to sharper pricing on niche outcomes. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbook lines on the same event reveals whether professional traders or casual bettors currently dominate the pricing.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for shares. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the marginal trade—the last matched order—and moves as new buy and sell orders arrive. Traders holding shares profit if their prediction proves correct at resolution, creating a direct financial incentive for accurate forecasting. This mechanism typically produces efficient pricing that incorporates available information about player performance, weather, and other game-relevant factors.
This market resolves around Jul 1, 2026, once the Cardinals-Braves game concludes and the final statistics are available. The outcome is determined by the combined total bases recorded by both teams during the contest, verified against credible public sources. Traders holding the correct outcome receive their payout based on the final tally. Resolution typically occurs within hours of game completion, allowing rapid settlement and payout distribution to winning positions.
Several factors can shift odds in this market before resolution. Lineup announcements—particularly injuries to key hitters or unexpected roster changes—often trigger sharp price moves. Weather updates matter significantly, as wind speed and direction affect ball carry distance and total bases. Starting pitcher confirmations and bullpen availability can also influence expectations around offensive output. Real-time game developments, including early scoring patterns and momentum swings, will continue driving trader repositioning right up until the final out.
