Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets are driven purely by trader belief and financial risk. This market aggregates the views of many independent forecasters with real money at stake, which can surface insights that sportsbooks initially miss. Over time, sharp traders and informed bettors may push prediction market prices ahead of or away from conventional betting lines, particularly as new information emerges closer to kickoff.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader orders into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders purchase shares representing each possible outcome, and the price of each share adjusts based on supply and demand. The current odds reflect the probability implied by the order book at any given moment. As more capital flows into one outcome, its price rises and the competing outcome's price falls, creating a self-balancing mechanism that keeps the market efficient and responsive to new information.
This market resolves around Jul 26, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals in the second half alone, independent of the first-half score. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing shares expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final whistle, pending confirmation from official match records.
Team news—injuries, lineup changes, or tactical shifts announced before kickoff—can shift trader expectations significantly. Early first-half momentum and goals may influence second-half forecasts, as traders reassess fatigue, confidence, and attacking intent. Weather conditions, referee assignments, and recent form updates can also trigger repricing. As the match progresses into the second half, live action becomes the dominant signal; goals, red cards, and substitutions will drive sharp price movements. Close to resolution, the market will reflect the actual state of play rather than pre-match analysis.
