Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and to balance action, while this market is driven by individuals trading based on their own information and beliefs. Often, prediction markets are seen as more accurate forecasters of event outcomes than traditional betting markets, particularly when there is significant public interest. However, sportsbook odds can provide a useful benchmark for comparison, and discrepancies may indicate areas where the market perceives an advantage or disadvantage.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the market’s collective assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market efficiently incorporates diverse perspectives, leading to a dynamic and potentially more accurate forecast than static odds. Trading volume and order flow directly influence the price movements you see on the dashboard.
