Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets aggregate beliefs from traders who have real money at stake on outcomes. This market may show odds that differ from major sportsbooks, especially as new information emerges or as traders update their views. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus is strongest or where informed traders see value relative to conventional betting lines.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on buy and sell volume. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome in this market has a price between 0 and 1, representing the implied probability that outcome occurs. When you buy shares of an outcome, the price rises; when you sell, it falls. This continuous repricing mechanism ensures the market reflects real-time trader conviction about which team will win the first five innings.
This market resolves around Jul 5, 2026, once the game result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team leads after exactly five complete innings have been played. Official box scores and game records from MLB will confirm the winner. Resolution occurs shortly after the game concludes and the final score is confirmed, ensuring all traders have access to the same authoritative information.
Several factors can shift odds in this market before resolution. Lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmations, and recent team performance trends often trigger repricing. Injury updates to key players, weather conditions at game time, and historical head-to-head records in early innings can influence trader positioning. Breaking news about roster changes or managerial decisions may also prompt rapid adjustments. As first pitch approaches, real-time developments and late-breaking information typically drive the most volatile price movements.
