Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets price outcomes based on trader belief and capital allocation. This market may show different implied probabilities than traditional sports betting sites, especially if one venue attracts more informed or specialized traders. Comparing the two can reveal where market participants disagree on the Cardinals' chances in the first five innings.

On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on buy and sell volume. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current implied probability reflects the aggregate belief of all active traders holding positions in this outcome. As more capital flows into either the Cardinals or Braves outcome, the price shifts to rebalance supply and demand. This continuous repricing mechanism ensures the market remains responsive to new information and trading interest.

Key catalysts include starting pitcher announcements, recent team performance trends, and injury updates affecting lineup strength. Weather conditions at game time can influence early-inning scoring dynamics. Breaking news about player availability or lineup changes often triggers sharp price movement as traders reassess probabilities.
