Prediction market odds often differ from traditional sportsbook lines because they reflect trader sentiment rather than set odds from bookmakers. In this market, the probability prices you see incorporate real-time betting flow and can move more quickly with new information. Sportsbook lines may include adjustments for balancing bets, while prediction markets let participants express their beliefs freely, sometimes producing sharper or more volatile assessments of team chances.
On Polymarket and Kalshi, prices can vary due to differences in user base, liquidity, and trading mechanics. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform’s community may have distinct views on team performance or recent news, shaping their odds. Additionally, volume and open interest on one venue can influence its prices independently of the other, leading to temporary mismatches until information flows between both markets.
