This set of markets focuses on predicting the total points scored by both teams combined in the first half of a college football game. Each market has a different threshold for the total points, allowing participants to bet on various levels of scoring intensity in the first half.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams in the first half of the Southern Illinois vs Illinois college football game scheduled for September 19, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (ranging from over 2.5 to over 47.5 points); if the combined first-half score exceeds the threshold, the market resolves to Yes. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored during the first half count toward resolution.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows traders to express their own beliefs about the likelihood of an event. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public opinion shifts. Analyzing these differences can provide insights into market inefficiencies and potential value, though it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities as perceived by different groups.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, with higher prices indicating a greater perceived chance. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are constantly adjusting their bids and asks based on new information and their own analysis, leading to a dynamic pricing mechanism. The current price represents the collective assessment of all participants in this market, offering a unique perspective on the event’s potential result.
This market resolves around Sep 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the total points scored in the first half of the Southern Illinois versus Illinois college basketball game will be used to determine whether the ‘over’ or ‘under’ contract wins. The final score will be sourced from official game statistics and widely available sports news outlets. The market will then settle based on whether the actual total exceeds or falls short of the predetermined threshold.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding player injuries, changes to the starting lineups, or significant shifts in team performance could impact trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions, which might affect playing style, or even public endorsements from analysts could also play a role. Furthermore, large volume trades on Kalshi itself can create short-term price fluctuations as traders react to the perceived implications of those trades. Monitoring these signals can help you understand potential market movements.
