PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Polymarket asks for the exact score, while Kalshi asks about the total number of goals scored. These are fundamentally different questions.Hero tip: Treat these markets as independent. Information about likely goal totals doesn't directly translate to predicting the exact score, and vice-versa.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Resolves based on the exact final score (e.g., 1-0, 2-2) or 'Any Other Score' if the score isn't listed. Resolution considers 90 minutes + stoppage time.
  • Kalshi: Resolves based on whether the total number of goals exceeds a certain threshold (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, etc.). Resolution considers 90 minutes + stoppage time.
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Polymarket

In the upcoming EFL Championship game between Southampton FC and Bristol City FC, scheduled for September 12, 2026 at 10:00 AM ET: This market will resolve based on the final score of the Southampton FC vs. Bristol City FC match originally scheduled for September 12, 2026 at 10:00 AM ET, considering only the result at the end of 90 minutes of regulation plus stoppage time; extra time and penalty shoot-outs are excluded. If the actual score is not one of the explicitly listed outcomes, the market resolves to "Any Other Score." If the match is postponed, the market will remain open until it is completed; if it is canceled with no make-up game, the market resolves to "0-0." The primary resolution source for this market is the official statistics of the event as recognized by the governing body or event organizers. However, if the governing body or event organizers have not published final match statistics within 2 hours after the event's conclusion, data from Flashscore may be used; if Flashscore data is unavailable, data from Sofascore may be used; if neither is available, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead. All markets will settle based on the official final result as recognized by the governing body or event organizers. Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome.

Kalshi

The event evaluates multiple thresholds for total goals scored in the Southampton vs Bristol City EFL Championship match scheduled for September 12, 2026. Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those found in this market, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the mechanisms of price discovery. Sportsbooks set odds based on internal models and aim to profit from imbalances, while prediction markets allow traders to directly express their beliefs, leading to a more organic and potentially more accurate assessment of probabilities. This market’s price reflects the collective intelligence of its participants, and can sometimes anticipate outcomes more effectively than traditional betting venues, especially as new information emerges. The difference can also be attributed to varying levels of liquidity and market efficiency.

Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi for the Southampton vs. Bristol City score market can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has a different user base with varying levels of expertise and access to information, influencing their trading decisions. Furthermore, the specific market structures and trading fees on each platform can create price discrepancies. The volume of trading on each platform also plays a role; lower volume can lead to greater price volatility and divergence. Finally, differing interpretations of available data and news surrounding the teams can contribute to these price differences.
