On Polymarket, traders set the odds by directly bidding on potential outcomes, while Kalshi employs a different mechanism. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. This can lead to price discrepancies even when both platforms are tracking the same event. Factors like differing user bases, trading fees, and market-specific rules can all contribute to these variations. Furthermore, the volume traded on each platform can influence price discovery, with higher volume generally leading to more stable and efficient pricing. The current differing outcomes reflect these dynamics.
