Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, the prediction market odds will likely move in the opposite direction. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying levels of market efficiency.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. Conversely, selling pressure drives prices down. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of all traders involved, constantly adjusting to new information and insights.
This market resolves around Sep 28, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Skachenko vs. Ponomarenko match, as determined by the governing body of the sport. The platform will rely on publicly available and widely accepted sources to verify the final result. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or adjust their strategies based on the settled outcome of this market.
