Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is underrating a player’s chances, the prediction market odds will likely diverge. It's common to see discrepancies, especially early in the market's life, as prediction markets can quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities based on informed speculation. Examining these differences can be a useful exercise for identifying potential value.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reach an equilibrium that represents the collective forecast. The market is entirely driven by supply and demand; no external factors directly influence the pricing beyond trader behavior.
This market resolves around Sep 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official result of the Xinyu Wang versus Joanna Garland match at the Singapore Open. The platform will verify the winner against official tournament records and reporting from established sports news sources. The final result will determine which shares pay out and at what value, based on the probabilities established by trading leading up to the resolution date. Traders should monitor official sources for the confirmed outcome.
