Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Limitless, often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and aim to profit by balancing risk. This market, however, allows anyone to trade, and prices adjust based on collective belief. While sportsbooks may initially have an edge due to specialized information, prediction markets can become highly accurate as more information becomes available and more traders participate. Differences can arise from varying levels of information aggregation and the incentives of each type of platform.
Polymarket and Limitless can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Polymarket and Limitless may differ due to several factors. Each platform has its own user base, trading rules, and fee structure, all of which can influence price discovery. Furthermore, the volume traded on each platform can vary, leading to discrepancies. Polymarket currently favors a particular outcome, while Limitless leans toward another. These differences in sentiment and trading activity contribute to the observed price divergence. It’s also possible that information is incorporated at different rates across the two platforms.
