Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on their own analysis, while this market’s odds are determined by traders actively buying and selling contracts. This dynamic process can lead to prediction markets incorporating information more quickly than sportsbooks, especially as new information emerges. However, sportsbooks often have limits on bet sizes, whereas Polymarket may allow for larger positions. It's important to compare both to assess the best potential value.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the outcome of the Singapore Open tennis match. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the contract price will rise, and vice-versa. This creates a dynamic pricing system driven by supply and demand, offering a unique perspective on the potential result of the match.
