Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like marketing promotions or biases, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders. If there's a significant difference, it could indicate that prediction market participants believe the sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a particular outcome. It’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, but they are derived through different mechanisms and may therefore diverge. Examining these differences can offer valuable insights.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where participants buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic process creates a market-driven assessment of the likelihood of each player winning the Singapore Open match. The platform’s interface displays these probabilities in real-time, allowing traders to react to new information and adjust their positions.
