Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each outcome. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when there’s significant public interest or disagreement about the likely winner. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate new information and adjust probabilities based on collective intelligence, offering a potentially more accurate view of the event's outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of Hunter/Krawczyk winning the Singapore Open doubles match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time forecast. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The closer the match gets, the more the price will reflect the collective wisdom of traders on Polymarket regarding the likely result. This dynamic pricing system allows for a fluid and responsive market.
