Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set their lines based on their own models and often incorporate a margin for profit, while this market is driven by traders directly expressing their beliefs. If there's a significant discrepancy, it may indicate that the market believes a sportsbook is undervaluing or overvaluing a particular outcome. It's common to see prediction markets move more efficiently than sportsbooks, especially as new information becomes available leading up to the event.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, reflecting a higher perceived chance of success. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, providing a real-time assessment of expectations for the Seville tennis match.
