Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines to balance action and ensure profit, incorporating a margin for themselves. This market, however, is driven by the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. As a result, you may find that the probabilities implied by this market differ from sportsbook odds, potentially offering a more accurate assessment of the true likelihood of each player winning, or identifying situations where the market disagrees with conventional wisdom.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective predictions of traders. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe a particular outcome will occur, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will rise. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to new information and changing sentiment regarding the Lajovic vs Landaluce match.
