Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which may be influenced by house biases or initial public perception. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance betting action, while this market relies on individuals freely trading based on their own information and beliefs. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, analytical approaches, or simply the diverse perspectives of market participants. It's common to see prediction markets incorporate information more quickly than traditional betting venues.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, signaling a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. The market dynamically adjusts to new information and changing sentiment, providing a real-time assessment of the event's potential results.

This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official result of the Semenets vs. Varchenko match as reported by recognized sports authorities. The platform will verify the result against these sources to determine the winning outcome. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final market price at the time of resolution. It’s important to monitor the official sources as the resolution date approaches.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before Oct 18, 2026. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching strategies, or unexpected performance in preceding matches could shift trader sentiment. Publicly released analysis from sports commentators or expert predictions might also impact trading activity.
