Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance liability and extract a margin, while prediction markets price outcomes based on trader consensus and real-money conviction. In this market, the odds you see represent what thousands of traders collectively believe will happen in the second half, rather than a bookmaker's calculated spread. Prediction markets tend to be more efficient at incorporating new information—such as team news or in-game momentum—because traders can instantly adjust positions. However, sportsbook odds may sometimes offer sharper lines due to professional traders and sophisticated models backing those venues.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where the cost of each outcome share reflects the current probability implied by all trades. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares representing either team's second-half victory, and the price adjusts dynamically based on supply and demand. The odds you see represent the market's collective assessment of the likelihood of each outcome. As more traders position themselves, prices shift to balance the order flow, ensuring the market continuously reflects updated expectations about the match result.
This market resolves around Jul 29, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals during the second half period only. Any goals scored in the first half do not count toward this market's resolution. Once the final whistle sounds and official sources confirm the second-half scoreline, the market will settle automatically. Traders should monitor the fixture schedule to ensure they close or adjust positions before the second half begins, as prices typically move sharply once play starts.
Several factors can shift odds in this market before and during the second half. Team news—such as injuries, suspensions, or lineup changes announced before kickoff—often triggers sharp price movements. First-half performance is a major catalyst; if one team dominates the opening 45 minutes, traders will reprice the second-half odds accordingly. In-game events like red cards, early goals, or tactical adjustments during halftime can cause rapid repricing. Weather conditions, crowd momentum, and momentum swings also influence trader sentiment. Additionally, any official announcements or delays affecting the match schedule could impact trading activity and prices in the final minutes before the second half begins.
