Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the outcome. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced the match, the odds here will adjust accordingly. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform traditional sportsbooks, especially as more information becomes available and the event draws closer.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of Bayerlova/Zimmermann and Rogers/Zamarripa winning the Sao Paulo Open doubles match. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, directly reflecting the collective forecast of market participants. Higher demand for shares indicating a particular outcome will drive up its price, and vice versa, creating a dynamic probability assessment.
