Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. Comparing this market to sportsbook lines can reveal where the crowd disagrees with professional oddsmakers, potentially identifying value opportunities for informed bettors.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of different outcomes. The price of each share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust dynamically, reflecting the collective forecast. The market’s price is determined by supply and demand; if many traders believe an outcome is likely, the price of shares representing that outcome will rise, and vice versa.
This market resolves around Sep 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the result of the second half of the San Jose Earthquakes versus Portland Timbers match is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official match result as reported by a recognized sports data provider. The outcome will be determined by which team either wins the second half, or if the second half ends in a draw. Several factors could influence trading activity in this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either the Earthquakes or the Timbers would likely cause significant movement. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments, or even weather conditions could also impact trader sentiment. Additionally, major events during the first half of the match, such as red cards or early goals, could lead to substantial shifts in the odds. Public perception and expert analysis leading up to and during the match will also play a role in shaping the market.
