Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are priced by traders seeking to profit on accuracy. This market may offer sharper or more volatile pricing than traditional sportsbooks, especially as new information emerges. Comparing the two can reveal where public perception differs from market consensus, though each serves distinct purposes for bettors and forecasters.

On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on buy and sell volume. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the aggregate belief of all active traders about which team will win the first five innings. As new information surfaces—injury reports, weather updates, or betting action—prices shift in real time. Liquidity and trading depth determine how quickly prices respond to news, and wider spreads may appear during low-volume periods.

This market resolves around Jul 5, 2026, once the game concludes and the first five innings are complete. The outcome is determined by which team holds the lead after exactly five full innings of play. Resolution is verified against credible public sources reporting the official game score at that checkpoint. Early resolution may occur if the game is called or suspended before the fifth inning ends, in which case the score at the time of stoppage determines the winner.

Key catalysts include lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmations, and injury updates for either team. Weather conditions at game time—wind direction, temperature, and precipitation—can significantly influence early-game scoring patterns. Betting action and sharp money flowing into one side may shift prices ahead of first pitch. Real-time game developments during the first five innings, such as early runs, errors, or momentum swings, will drive continuous repricing as traders adjust their positions based on unfolding play.
