This event tracks runs batted in (RBIs) by individual players during a San Diego Padres vs Los Angeles Dodgers game on July 2, 2026. An RBI is credited when a batter's action results in a run scoring.
Settlement requires that the player be in the starting lineup and record at least one plate appearance. If a player is scratched or not included in the starting lineup, the market resolves to fair market price. If a player starts but does not record a plate appearance, the market resolves to fair market price. Players who enter the game as pinch hitters do not count toward settlement; only starting players' at-bats are considered. Once a starting player records at least one plate appearance, the market settles based on the RBIs actually recorded during the game.
Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant pools and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and protect their margins, while prediction markets like this one aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. Traders here profit directly from accuracy, creating stronger incentives to incorporate all available information. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbooks can reveal where professional bettors and casual traders disagree on the likely RBI outcome, potentially signaling value or consensus shifts in real time.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through an order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for shares representing different RBI outcomes. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price you see reflects the last executed trade, and spreads tighten or widen based on order flow and participation. As more traders enter, liquidity typically improves and prices become more efficient. Your ability to buy or sell at favorable prices depends on current order depth and how confident the market is about the final RBI total between the two teams.
This market resolves around Jul 3, 2026, once the game concludes and the final combined RBI count is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the official box score recorded by Major League Baseball, which tallies every run batted in by both the Padres and Dodgers during the contest. No adjustments are made after the game ends; the resolution is straightforward and based on the authoritative final statistics. Traders should monitor the game closely as it unfolds to adjust positions based on in-game momentum and scoring.
Key catalysts include lineup announcements, injury updates to star hitters, and pitching matchups that affect scoring potential. Weather conditions at the stadium—wind direction and temperature—can significantly influence whether fly balls clear the fence or stay in play. Recent team form, bullpen health, and head-to-head historical trends also shape trader expectations. As game time approaches, final roster confirmations and any last-minute roster moves will likely trigger sharp price movements. During the game itself, early scoring, pitching changes, and momentum swings will continuously reprrice this market as new information arrives.
