Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, aiming to profit regardless of the outcome. This market, however, is driven purely by traders' beliefs, representing a collective forecast. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying levels of market participation. If a significant difference exists, it may present an arbitrage opportunity for informed traders who can capitalize on the mispricing.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Baris vs Mitsui match. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now.
