This set of markets focuses on predicting the total points scored by both teams in the fourth quarter of a college football game. Participants assess how offensive and defensive strategies might unfold in the final period, influencing the game's intensity and scoring pace.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams specifically during the fourth quarter of play, excluding any overtime periods. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of its original scheduled start time, the markets remain active and resolve according to the final official result. Should the game fail to start within this 48-hour window, all markets will resolve to a fair price. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to resolve to 'Yes', ranging from more than 2.5 points to more than 27.5 points. Only points scored in the fourth quarter count toward these thresholds.
Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbook odds are typically set by a small team of experts, while this market aggregates insights from many individuals. It’s common to see differences emerge, especially as new information becomes available or public sentiment shifts. However, both aim to accurately forecast the probability of an event occurring, and discrepancies can present opportunities for arbitrage or informed betting decisions.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts. The price of a contract represents the probability of the event occurring – in this case, the 4th quarter total points exceeding 7.5. As more people buy contracts predicting an outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and reflect the evolving expectations of participants regarding the Sam Houston vs Texas Tech game's final quarter.
This market resolves around Sep 26, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final score of the 4th quarter of the Sam Houston vs Texas Tech game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official game statistics, specifically the total points scored in the 4th quarter. The market will then pay out to those who correctly predicted whether the total would be over or under 7.5 points, based on the final, official score reported by the governing sports body.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before the game concludes. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Sam Houston or Texas Tech could significantly shift expectations. Live game developments, such as a dominant offensive performance by one team or a series of turnovers, would also likely cause fluctuations. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they impact the passing or kicking game, could also play a role. Ultimately, any information that alters perceptions of the likely 4th quarter scoring potential will impact trading activity and move this market.
