Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market’s probabilities are driven purely by traders’ willingness to buy or sell. If a significant number of traders believe a particular score is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will shift accordingly. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying interpretations of team strengths. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform traditional sportsbooks in accuracy over time.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores, and the price of each share reflects the market’s probability of that score occurring. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to find an equilibrium where buyers and sellers agree on the fair value. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movement is influenced by new information, such as team news or changes in player form, as well as overall market sentiment. The higher the demand for a particular score, the higher its price will climb.
This market resolves around Oct 16, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final, official result of the Saint Patrick’s Athletic FC versus Shelbourne FC match will determine the winning share. The resolution will be based on the exact score recorded at the end of regulation time, excluding any potential extra time or penalty shootouts. The platform will verify the result against official sources to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Saint Patrick’s Athletic FC or Shelbourne FC would likely cause price fluctuations. Changes in team form, such as a surprising win or loss in a recent match, could also shift trader sentiment. Weather conditions on match day, particularly if they favor one team’s playing style, could also play a role. Finally, any unexpected tactical decisions announced by the managers before the game could influence the perceived probabilities of different scores.
