Divergence Detected

Issue: Differing resolution criteria for game cancellations between Kalshi and Polymarket.Hero tip: Consider the cancellation risk when trading. Polymarket's draw market benefits from a cancellation, while the win markets on both platforms lose.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Markets resolve to 'Yes' for a draw if the game is canceled. Win markets resolve to 'No' if the game is canceled. Resolution relies on official statistics, with fallback sources (Flashscore, Sofascore, consensus reporting). The game must be completed for a 'Yes' resolution on win markets.
  • Kalshi: All markets (Sacramento win, Detroit win, Tie) resolve to 'Yes' if the game is canceled. Resolution relies on official statistics, with fallback sources (Flashscore, Sofascore, consensus reporting).
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the wisdom of the crowd. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of many individual traders. This market reflects a decentralized forecast, potentially identifying mispricings that sportsbooks might miss. However, sportsbook odds are often more readily available and may offer different types of wagers. Both provide valuable information for those interested in the US Open Cup final, but represent distinct approaches to assessing probabilities.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge for several reasons. Each platform attracts a different user base with varying expertise and risk tolerance. Trading interfaces, fee structures, and market-specific rules also contribute to price discrepancies. For example, Polymarket might have a higher concentration of soccer enthusiasts, leading to different probability assessments than Kalshi. Furthermore, liquidity levels can vary between platforms, impacting price discovery. These factors combine to create independent price signals, even though both platforms are addressing the same question regarding the US Open Cup final.
