Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets are driven purely by trader belief and capital allocation. This market aggregates the collective judgment of thousands of participants wagering real money, which can reveal insights sportsbooks may not yet price in. Comparing the two can highlight where sharp traders see value or where conventional betting wisdom may lag emerging information about player form or conditions.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell pressure. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome share trades between 0 and 100 cents, with the price representing the crowd's estimated probability. As more capital flows toward one team, its price rises and the opposing team's falls. This continuous repricing mechanism ensures the market reflects the latest information and trader sentiment in real time, creating a dynamic odds environment throughout the lead-up to the match.
