Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a more accurate forecast than traditional sportsbook odds, as they aggregate the wisdom of the crowd and allow participants to hedge their bets. However, there can be discrepancies. Sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis and public perception, while this market evolves as more information becomes available and traders react to news and events. It’s common to see prediction markets incorporate information faster than sportsbooks, potentially leading to different probabilities for the same outcome. Comparing the two can offer a broader perspective on the potential result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective prediction. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or other prediction markets. This dynamic pricing allows for a real-time assessment of the likely result of the Rodin vs. Krokhmal match.
