Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders, aims to represent the true probabilities as perceived by participants. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market can quickly adjust based on new information and diverse opinions. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information access, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the event's potential outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each exact score. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price movements are driven by supply and demand, with traders acting as both market makers and informed speculators. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective assessment of the event’s potential results.

Changes in team form, such as unexpected wins or losses in preceding matches, could also influence trader sentiment. Tactical announcements from either manager, particularly regarding starting lineups or strategic approaches, could also move the market. Finally, even weather conditions on the day of the match could play a role, especially if they are expected to significantly impact the style of play or overall outcome.
