The "Daily Box Office Performance" figures found on the "Box Office" tab on this movie's The Numbers (https://www.the-numbers.com/) page will be used to resolve this market once the values for the 3-day weekend (September 25 - 27) are final (i.e., not studio estimates). If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. Please note, this market will resolve according to the The Numbers figures provided under Weekend Box Office Performance for the 3-day weekend (which typically includes Thursday's previews), regardless of whether domestic refers to only the USA, or to USA and Canada, etc. If there is ambiguity as to whether the resolution source's figures are final, this market will remain open until both https://www.boxofficemojo.com/ and https://www.the-numbers.com/ have confirmed their finalized figures. If there is no final data available by October 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen.

Frequently asked questions

Currently, the prevailing sentiment in this market suggests a high probability that the Resident Evil box office will achieve at least 32m during its second weekend. This contrasts with some pre-release analyst forecasts, which were more conservative, predicting a potential drop-off in viewership. However, it’s important to note that analyst predictions are often based on historical trends and pre-release marketing data, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders reacting to real-time information and evolving expectations surrounding the film’s performance. The market’s current assessment is a dynamic view, potentially incorporating factors not fully captured in initial forecasts.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, meaning traders can buy and sell shares representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the latest consensus. Higher trading volume generally indicates greater confidence in the market's assessment, while significant price swings can signal a shift in expectations regarding the Resident Evil box office performance.

This market resolves around Sep 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the actual second weekend box office numbers for Resident Evil will be used to determine whether the film reached the 32m threshold. The resolution will be based on publicly available data from box office tracking sources, ensuring a transparent and verifiable outcome. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or adjust their strategies based on the final result of this market.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Positive or negative reviews gaining traction could shift expectations about long-term viewership. Unexpected news regarding competing film releases could also impact the Resident Evil box office numbers. Furthermore, any significant social media buzz or viral marketing campaigns could drive increased attendance. Finally, early box office reports from the first few days of the second weekend will be closely watched and are likely to cause substantial movement in this market as traders react to the initial data.
