Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often incorporating information and analysis beyond what’s readily available to traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs, potentially leading to odds that more accurately reflect the true probability of an outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information access, biases, or simply varying interpretations of available data. It’s common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information than sportsbooks.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether AFC Bournemouth will win the second half. As more traders buy shares, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability of that outcome. Conversely, increased selling pressure drives the price down. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price of a share directly reflects the market's collective assessment of the likelihood of AFC Bournemouth winning the second half, and the total volume traded provides insight into the level of conviction behind that prediction.

This market resolves around Sep 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result will be determined by which team—Real Sociedad or AFC Bournemouth—wins the second half of the match. The official result, as reported by sporting authorities, will be used to determine the winning outcome. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will be paid out according to the final market price, while those holding shares in the losing outcome will forfeit their investment.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Real Sociedad or AFC Bournemouth would likely have a significant impact. Tactical changes announced by either manager, or even changes in weather conditions, could also shift trader sentiment. Unexpected performance in the first half of the match, or even pre-game analysis suggesting a shift in team form, could lead to substantial price movements. Major upsets in other related matches could also indirectly influence trading activity in this market.
