PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Kalshi uses binary Yes resolution for either team winning, while Polymarket uses categorical team-name resolution. Kalshi lacks explicit edge-case rules for forfeits and walkovers, whereas Polymarket provides comprehensive guidance.Hero tip: Polymarket offers superior clarity with explicit rules for forfeits, walkovers, cancellations, and delays. Kalshi's binary structure is ambiguous for incomplete-match scenarios. For risk-averse traders, Polymarket is the preferred venue. If trading Kalshi, request clarification on forfeit/walkover treatment before market close.

Critical divergence points:

  • Kalshi: Binary Yes resolution if either Cloud9 or For Fun Esports wins. No explicit rules for forfeits, walkovers, cancellations, or delays. Key Quote: 'If Cloud9 wins the North America League Stage 1 2026: For Fun Esports vs. Cloud9 R6 match... then the market resolves to Yes.'
  • Polymarket: Categorical resolution to winning team name (Cloud9 or For Fun Esports). Explicit rules: forfeits/walkovers before match start = 50-50; incomplete matches with forfeit/disqualification = winning team; cancellations/ties/delays beyond 7 days = 50-50. Key Quote: 'If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50.'

In cases where a team’s listed name includes minor discrepancies from the resolution source, this market will resolve based on the underlying real-world match rather than exact name matching. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor tags, affiliate or academy designations, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences will be treated as referring to the same team, provided the intended team can be clearly and uniquely identified within the relevant competition. Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets and sportsbooks price esports events through different mechanisms. Sportsbooks set odds based on internal models and risk management, then adjust for liability. Prediction markets like those tracked here rely on continuous trader participation and order-book dynamics, often reflecting real-time sentiment shifts. Esports prediction markets can move faster than traditional sportsbooks during league play, especially for matches with lower mainstream attention. Comparing this market's odds to major esports betting sites reveals whether professional bettors and casual traders are aligned or diverging on Cloud9's chances.

On Polymarket, traders set odds through an automated market maker, while Kalshi uses a different order-matching engine and regulatory framework. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Differences in liquidity, user base composition, and fee structures mean each platform can price the same match outcome differently. Polymarket's larger esports trader base may react faster to roster news or recent performance, while Kalshi's structure may attract longer-term position holders. These pricing gaps create arbitrage opportunities and reflect how market microstructure influences consensus on competitive esports outcomes.

Recent team performance, roster changes, and head-to-head records are primary catalysts for price movement in this market. Injury announcements, player substitutions, or coaching adjustments announced before match day can shift implied probabilities significantly. Patch updates to Rainbow Six Siege that alter map balance or operator viability may favor one team's playstyle. Community sentiment, betting volume spikes, and line moves on external platforms often precede sharp trader action. Monitor official league announcements and team social media for any last-minute developments that could reshape odds before the match begins.
