Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from sportsbook odds, which are often set by analysts. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like public perception or promotional offers, while this market is driven purely by traders willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If there's a significant discrepancy, it could indicate that prediction market participants have access to information or insights not yet fully priced into sportsbook lines. It's also common to see prediction markets move more quickly to incorporate new information as it becomes available.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe a particular team will win, the higher the price of shares representing that team. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of those trading on Polymarket.

This market resolves around Oct 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official result of the Presidents Cup 2026, determining which team is declared the winner. The market will then settle, and traders will receive payouts based on the final outcome and their positions in the market. It’s important to monitor news sources leading up to and following the event to understand how the resolution process unfolds.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Major player injuries or unexpected changes in team composition would likely cause shifts in probabilities. Significant performance changes during qualifying events or pre-tournament matches could also influence trader sentiment. News regarding course conditions or weather forecasts leading up to the Presidents Cup could also play a role. Any developments that alter perceptions of a team's chances of winning will likely be reflected in the price action of this market.
