If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed. If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, this market will resolve to "Neither". This market refers only to the outcome within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs are excluded. The primary resolution source for this market is the official statistics of the event as recognized by the governing body or event organizers. Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven by individuals directly wagering on their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe one team is more likely to score first, the odds will shift accordingly, potentially offering a more accurate representation of the true probability. However, sportsbook odds can be influenced by factors like public perception and promotional offers, leading to discrepancies with this market.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people buy shares in a particular team to score first, the price of those shares increases, reflecting a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling pressure decreases the price. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of those trading.
This market resolves around Sep 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the Portugal vs. Wales match. Any goals scored during regular play, extra time, or penalty shootouts will be considered, depending on the official match rules. The final result will be determined by official sources and reported to finalize this market.
Several factors could influence the odds in this market. Any news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Portugal or Wales would likely cause significant movement. Changes in team formations or tactical approaches announced before the match could also shift the probabilities. Furthermore, pre-match analysis from respected football commentators and analysts, even if not directly reflected in betting odds, could sway trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day might also play a role, potentially favoring one team's playing style over the other, and thus impacting this market.
