Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their risk and ensure profitability, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. Early in the market, you may find discrepancies, but as more information becomes available and trading volume increases, the odds on Polymarket tend to converge with those offered by sportsbooks, assuming both have access to similar information. However, prediction markets can sometimes identify mispricings faster.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Portugal vs. Costa Rica second half. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a probability distribution. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the collective assessment of all traders participating in this market, and it's constantly updated as new information and opinions emerge. Higher demand for shares indicating a particular outcome will drive up its price, and vice versa.

This market resolves around Sep 13, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result will be determined by the official result of the second half of the Portugal vs. Costa Rica match. The platform will rely on official sources to verify the final score and determine which outcome corresponds to the actual result. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will be entitled to a payout, while those holding shares in the losing outcome will forfeit their investment.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Any news regarding team lineups, injuries to key players on either Portugal or Costa Rica, or changes in weather conditions could all impact trader sentiment. In-game events during the first half of the match, such as early goals or red cards, will likely cause significant price movement. Furthermore, any significant public opinion shifts, reflected in polls or expert analysis, could also contribute to changes in the price of shares on Polymarket.
