Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and risk assessment, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. It's common to see discrepancies emerge, especially when public sentiment strongly diverges from the sportsbook's initial assessment. Analyzing these differences can provide valuable insights into the perceived value of various outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price will fluctuate, reflecting the evolving consensus. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market remains responsive to changes in expectations leading up to the match.

Unexpected results in preceding matches for either player, or even broader tournament upsets, could also impact trading activity. Public sentiment, as reflected in social media or expert analysis, can also contribute to price movements. Ultimately, any information that alters the perceived probability of either player winning will likely cause the market to react.
